What college coaches actually watch on your athlete's film

Recruiting4 min read

Forget the highlight reel myths — here's what evaluators look for in the first 30 seconds.

## The first 30 seconds Most college coaches make an initial read within the first three plays. The reel does not need to be long. It needs to lead with your athlete's clearest evidence of the position they are recruited for. ## What to lead with - A play that demonstrates the athlete's primary position trait. - Clear identification (jersey color, arrow, or circle — once, not on every play). - Game speed, not practice. ## What to cut - Long intros and music intros. - Plays where your athlete is hard to find. - Anything that is not their position. Keep it boring. Keep it honest. Coaches will do the rest.
